A Fantasy Wedding by Fifi Leigh

How to create a fantasy-inspired wedding, filled with nature, whimsical pieces and an enchanted forest environment.

This Spring and Summer, why not follow the recent movie themes, and create a fantasy-inspired wedding from such movies as Alice In Wonderland, Pan's Labyrinth, Peter Pan, or Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Pick out specific details from such movies to incorporate in your wedding decor and accessories. Such movies are all about romance.

Location: Fantasy decor can be added to any location, whether beach, vineyard, downtown city, mansion, desert, or mountains.
Transportation: Consider a horse and carriage, coach, or stagecoach.
Accessories: Brides should consider silver high heel shoes, jewelry, and tiara with a long dress in sheer and delicate fabric. A silver cuff is popular. Dresses come in many styles, whether simple but elegant with clean lines, romantic with bows and ruffles, and ostentatiously big, glamorous, and most likely found in high fashion magazines. Besides the regular tuxedo, grooms can also consider gaelic kilt and its accessories, knight's outfit, but not necessarily metal, unless that it is what the person prefers, or some kind of a warrior outfit.

Besides a pearl and diamond tiara that adorns the bride's hair, consider hair brooches, clips and other accessories to decorate the hair. Such accessories come in shapes of flowers, leaves, ladybugs, butterflies, fireflies, mushrooms, plants, fruits, dragons, fairies, insects, animals, caterpillars, frogs, keys, hearts, and vines.

Ring: Consider a ring in white gold, platinum, or silver. Some popular gem shapes to consider are the emerald-cut diamond, cushion-cut diamond, and the classic diamond shape. Some bands are even decorated with diamonds. Besides the regular diamond color, a pink stone is a creative version for a more romantic-style ring.

Dinnerware: White porcelain cups, mugs, plates, and saucers. Stainless steel silverware and pitcher. Various bulb-shaped vases decorate the tables, whether filled with plants or by themselves as a decorative piece. Add to the rustic look of romance some wooden bowls and plates. Delicate-design crystal glassware, whether for drinking, toasting, or decor. Candles, lace, vines, flowers, or just plain flower petals decorates the dinner tables. Cream or Champagne-colored linen and napkins decorate dinner tables.

Wedding Cakes are now a form of art sculptures. Consider a creamy cake shaped like a tree trunk, and a decorative vine with leaves and butterflies surrounding this trunk. Flowers can be added along the stems of these vines to further decorate the cake. Bees, ladybugs, caterpillars, dragonflies, and other insects can also decorate this cake. Along with the cake, tables should have a white porcelain tea set so that guests can enjoy their cake with some tea.

Whether inside a building or under a tent, decorations should include many plants, flowers, pots, candles, ribbons, baskets, ornate and antique-looking furniture pieces, and a drapery of curtains.

Honeymoon: Consider a ranch range, coastal beach, rustic mountains, country meadows, or downtown city, depending on the particular entertainment that you plan on for your honeymoon.

Setting the scene: Stones surrounding a pond, with maybe a little bridge as well as some stone outdoor furniture in a garden atmosphere, filled with flowers, hedges, vines, mushroom decoration, waterfalls, ornate french doors, old trunks, fireplace or bonfire, moss-covered stones, lead glass floor lamp, amethyst crystal decorative pieces, round and ornate windows for decor, furniture pieces made of twigs, golden arch doorway, mossy-looking rugs, green stem stalks, ivy, roots, and antique wooden chest with rusted metal clasps.

Furthermore, medieval furniture pieces can further decorate the setting. Such pieces include a floor torch bonfire, wall torch, candle stands, streams, gated tall fence and gates in iron, a wooden horse stable, watchtower, stands for fruit and desserts, vegetable dishes, cheese hors d'oeuvres, eating utensils, plates and cups, beverages and liquor. Add some fountains, bird baths, birdfeeders, bird houses, black cauldron, and pots.

More nature pieces include racoons, knights, unicorns, jesters, princess themes, toucan, green pea pods, squirrels, oppossums, rabbits, pigs, tigers, bison, ox and ox cart, barrels for drinking dispenser, stalactite and stalagmite, hay wagon, armor, ornate stocks, wooden buckets and crates, stone wishing well, wicker baskets, ornate-shaped bottles, sacks of flour, scrolls, stone slate floor and cobblestone floor, stone wall, mossy walls, rock wall, woodgrain floor, cattails, willow tree, crystals in amethyst, sapphire, ruby, diamond and emerald for decoration, bulb plants, feather plants, purple plants, and armoires.

To add some whimsical decor, consider chess pieces, flamingo, croquet, colorful mushrooms, checkered floor or rug, ornate golden gate, checkered wall in black and white, tile floor, green hedges in various shapes, roses, hardwood floor, deck of cards, antique stove, ornate furniture, tea cups and saucers, ornate bottles, candleabra, and an antique bathroom. Add a white rabbit, hookah, dragon fly, cat, dragon, Queen, King, Jack and Joker pieces.

Just remember, enchanted forests tend to be dark. So, dim lights and use lots of candles, floor lamps, and sconces, instead. Maybe, add some Christmas lights in one color, hanging around the area.
